Repeating Designs in Art

This is untrue and repeating patterns have long been a staple of art pieces. This is especially true in the world of ceramic art. The Japanese method of pressing rope into ceramics, called Jomon, is a traditional method of adding texture to a piece. Lines scored into Chinese ceramic pieces also add texture that draws the eye past the surface beauty and uses repetition to add dimension. A circular pattern with different scenes placed inside is another facet of Eastern art.
